8 Scholarships for 2SLGBTQ+ Students in Canada

If you identify as Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or any other identity within the 2SLGBTQ+ community, these scholarships are for you! Ranging from $250 to $2,000, these awards will help you accomplish your post-secondary goals. To help you start your scholarship process, here are some of the top scholarships for 2SLGBTQ+ students.

1. LOUD Foundation Scholarships 

The LOUD Foundation offers the most scholarships for 2SLGBTQ+ students in Canada! Open nationally, they’re looking for future leaders of the Canadian 2SLGBTQ+ community. The award amount ranges each year based on donors. However, it is typically between $2,000 and $2,500. Around 20 awards are given out each year to Grade 12 and university students. 2. Lambda Foundation 

The Lambda Foundation is another major source of scholarships for 2SLGBTQ+ students in Canada. They offer scholarships in partnership with 12 universities across Canada. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $2,500. Check their list to see if your university is included! 

3. Bill 7 Award

The Bill 7 Award supports 2SLGBTQ+ students with financial need studying in Ontario. They seek to help students stay in school by helping them realize their full potential. If you are or aspire to be a leader in your community and meet the requirements, be sure to apply!

4. Acts of Greatness LGBTQ Youth Community Award

This scholarship seeks to celebrate the accomplishments of youth and empower the next generation of 2SLGBTQ+ leaders. It’s open to all youth around the world under the age of 24. Write a short essay to apply and get a chance to win one of four $500 or $250 scholarships!

5. Pride Education Network Diversity Scholarship

If you’re a graduating BC student with experience in your school’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), this is the scholarship for you! The Pride Education Network offers a scholarship fund for GSA members and LGBTQ youth leaders who intend to further their education. The award amount depends on the number of applicants, but is typically around $300. 

6. The Imperial Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose

Here’s an award for 2SLGBTQ+ students attending university in Alberta! Each year, the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose offers the John M. Kerr Memorial Bursary Award. The bursary amount varies, but is typically between $500 and $750. Check out their website for more info!

7. Start Proud

Start Proud is an organization dedicated to facilitating the professional development of 2SLGBTQ+ students as they transition from school to career. One of the ways they do this is through their annual Leaders To Be Proud Of Awards! 8. Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity
