Queen’s Early Applications and Normal Applications
So, when does Queen’s send acceptances? Admission decisions will be made on an ongoing basis from early December to mid-May. Ontario high school students are required to respond to offers of admission by June 1. Applicants can accept their offer through the OUAC website, Ontario students must
First, keep these deadlines in mind :
October 1 – Online application forms are available on the OUAC website. Applications will continue to be accepted through the fall and winter months. Applicants are encouraged to apply early.
December 1 – Last day to submit Major Admission Awards applications. Please ensure you complete your application to Queen’s as early as possible so that we may consider you for a Major Admission Award.
February 1 – Applications, changes or additions to applications are due at OUAC for all first-year programs, for all applicants. Last day to apply!
February 15 – Last day for applicants to submit any supplementary essays or materials. It is also the recommended last day to submit an application for Queen’s Admission Bursary.
May 1 – Deadline for response to offers of admission for students not attending high school in Ontario.
June 1 – Deadline for response to offers of admission for students attending an Ontario high school and all offers received after May 1.
All these dates are subject to change, but make sure to keep track of these dates if you apply to Queen’s!
What to do after applying to Queen’s:
Now that you have applied, there are a few things you still need to do to keep the application on track, depending on what kind of applicant you are.
Activate your NetID
If you haven’t already done so, activate your NetID using the Queen’s Student ID number that was emailed to you! Your Queen’s NetID is used to access SOLUS, which has important information, including your To Do List.
Add @queensu.ca to your safe senders list
Adding @queensu to your safe email senders list ensures that you will receive all your emails from Queen’s. We will use the email address you used on your application to communicate with you.
Work on your Supplementary Essay (if required)
Details about your Supplementary Essay, including key dates and deadlines, will be on your To Do List on SOLUS.
The Supplementary Essay is required for the Commerce and Health Sciences programs, and is optional for the Nursing program.
Log into SOLUS and check your To Do List
We will add to your To Do List as we begin to assess your application. Check it often to ensure you are up-to-date, and on time!
Receiving your Admission Decision:
Admission decisions will be made once all required documentation is submitted to Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment. The deadline for Ontario high school students to submit documentation to Queen’s (not including the PSE/SE) is April 30.
- Most admission offers are granted sometime between December and Mid-May. The exact timing varies. You will receive notification of your offer of admission via email!
- Apply for residence, if you decide to accept the admission offer.
What to do after you get accepted?
Connect With Queen’s Staff:
- Talk to an Academic Advisor, upper-year students and past alumni.
- Participate in events (Fall Preview Day, March Break Open House, school visits, education fairs, spring meetings).
Plan Your Arrival:
- Apply for a study permit, arrange residence/accommodations, and participate in Summer Academic Orientation and course selection. Refer to your online offer portal for step-by-step details.
